Based on the Greenwich Peninsula for over 20 years, Thamescraft Dry Docking operates one of London’s only remaining boatyards.
They service and repair both commercial and non-commercial vessels on the River Thames, carrying out half of all annual maintenance work on boats needed for London’s maritime tourism industry.
Thamescraft Dry Docking’s previous website was almost 10 years old and had been largely untouched in that time. Inevitably this caused many major issues: the website was difficult to update, not mobile friendly, and had fallen way behind their competitors’ online presence. All the while, numerous outdated plugins left the site vulnerable to hacking.
We were tasked with rebuilding the website from the ground up, with an emphasis on a sleek, accessible, modern design that really drew focus to Thamescraft’s USP: their vitally important dry docks.
Key to achieving Thamescraft’s objectives for their new website was the implementation of the company’s new branding and colour scheme, which they were unable to update their previous website with.
We ensured other design elements were in keeping with the maritime nature of the business, including tilted sections representing the docks, subtle waves for the site-wide enquiry form, and stacked service boxes to gently mirror their new logo.
Content from their previous website was brought up to speed, with the removal of redundant pages and the addition of downloadable spec sheets for their fleet. The groundwork to enable news articles and portfolio items was also completed, meaning the website is ready to start publishing new content when required.
SEO meta data was written and flowed in, whilst redirects were set up to ensure no traffic to the streamlined site would be lost.
The new website was successfully launched in January 2022 and we continue to support Thamescraft Dry Docking with ongoing website maintenance to ensure it remains shipshape and doesn’t sink below the competition any longer!
